Biography
Mr. Friez joined NACCO subsidiary North American Coal in March 2014 as Land Manager and became Vice President – Land, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of NACCO in 2023. In addition, he serves as the President of North American Coal Royalty Company, NACCO Properties, LLC, and Otter Creek Mining Company. Mr. Friez covers legal and regulatory issues for all NACCO subsidiary companies, regularly interacting with the judiciary and regulatory agencies at the federal, state, county and local level.
Mr. Friez is a graduate of North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he graduated with distinction. Prior to joining NACCO, he was a Partner with Crowley Fleck law firm in Bismarck
